I Am A Cog

If there's one thing I've learnt in life, it's that nothing is a constant. Everything's subjected to change and you'll find yourself constantly recalibrating your internal GPS, hoping that this time, maybe just this one time, you'll be on the "right" track. As tired as I am of being trapped and consumed by this vastly huge clockwork, I have to come to a strong acceptance that I am but a tiny piece of easily dispensable cog. Think about it: Some have it easier, they fit right in and simply begin spinning away, locking in all tight and secure. Some are a bit rough around the edges, but that's nothing an extra couple of spins won't solve. And then there's those irregular ones, flitting from one framework to another, hoping to find the perfect spin yet time and time again, they find themselves either spinning 2x faster or 1.5x slower than those around them, perpetually unable to churn the same momentum no matter how hard they try. Rarely they find an exact fit and when it finally happened, they're still unconvinced that it could be their shot for when they finally start believing, something eventually goes wrong and they find themselves on the move yet again. So now, pray tell, where do these innocent, irregular pieces fit? Will they ever fit into this complex clockwork? How will they ever fit in if the society constantly reject them?

Though, is there really no way this one-of-a-kind cog will fit in? From the way I see it, I think it's being presented an opportunity, a golden ticket. Instead of being restricted to a single expanse, it's constantly stretching and filling gaps, learning and re-learning from different cogs and diverse clockworks. Sure, it gets cut every now and then by cogs with sharper blades and it also finds itself in a constant headlock with other cogs when they spin in opposite directions but it now knows what not to do and what to avoid. Understand now that this path isn't for the weak and faint-hearted, no, it's made for champs and visionaries. It's for those who aren't afraid to fall, for those who aren't afraid to reinvent themselves and for those who stake their all. Don't be afraid to start from ground zero all over again for you're NOT starting from ground zero. You're so much more than that. Let those past experiences surge through you, be in the now and grab that opportunity to learn from others and self-learn. Yes, you're a cog but you're now an enlightened cog. When there's a clockwork flaw that constantly fling you into the middle of battles and sometimes even throwing you right into the losing end, don't panic. Stand up tall and look at the devil himself in the eye and say "Not today, my foe, not today."

xoxo,

Wendy
