Are you feeling so faded, so jaded? Like nothing's going your way and you're almost 99% done with the world? That you're just dragging yourself to and fro the very same place yet you're still stuck in the same unmoving spot both mentally and emotionally? And you question your entire life up till this point as to whether this is all you're capable of, whether this is your true potential and whether this is what your existence is all about?

I suppose at some point in our lives we all fall into an existential crisis, a time when we seriously question our life choices leading up to this very exact moment. In order to move forward, we first have to address why we're at where we are today. But before you dive into this deep pool of darkness with seemingly no end, I suggest you pull the plug and take a step or two back.

When reality calls, hang up. Actually, don't even pick up the phone. Instead, do this:

Go take up interest/hobby classes that interest you. Budget and spend some time on a trip alone or with your friends. Buy pretty things that you've had your eyes on for months. Treat yourself a cravings-satisfied meal. Hang out with that bunch of people who make you genuinely happy. Take long walks whilst blasting the hottest pop songs through your headphone. Go for a breezy night drive. Weekend sleep-ins. Marathon your favourite tv/movie series. Write down your goals and dreams. Go crazy screaming your lungs out at a concert. Learn that new skill that you've always wish to hone. Try out that cafe you've always wanted to go to but didn't have the time to. Re-decorate your room. Do things that make you feel alive. Find that spark that excites and inspires you!

You'll soon realise that life isn't as bleak as you made it to be. Your lack of progress in a particular aspect of your life does not mean you're not moving forward elsewhere. In fact, stopping can also be a great opportunity for you to soak in the present and re-evaluate your true needs. For all you know, moving forward might not even be that route you're supposed to be on. Your true path might be that left turn or that tiny detour. Recognise what is making you depressed. Take steps to get out of that situation. And if it's an impossible means right now, you change you. As they say, if you can't change the predicament, the only thing you can change is your attitude towards it. Hate your job? Hold up your current one whilst you search for brand new opportunities. Hate the way you look? Go exercise to lose weight, learn how to use makeup to your advantage, or change up your mundane wardrobe. Hate how people are constantly making you feel bad? Cut these people out, or take those criticisms as feedback to better yourself. It's all how you turn your lows into highs! Next time reality calls, just hang up because you ain't got time fo' that shit.

xoxo,

Wendy
