Stop seeking validation from people - people you don't know, people you love and people who love you. Have you ever been told by people that they like it when you wear a certain style of clothing or how they don't really like it when you say/do certain things so you try changing for them because you cared and wanted them to be happy and then at the end of the day, you fail to recognise the person staring back at you in your own mirror? Stop.

Of course, when it comes to little things like watching a new netflix drama or trying out that new sushi restaurant, it wouldn't be as much of a forced change but more of a compromise. But it's definitely not ok if you're forcing yourself to create an entirely new personality just to fit into someone else's life or into a seemingly cool squad. What truly matters at the end of the day is that you create your own set of goals and decide who you want to be.

Don't let anyone tell you that you're not good looking enough.

Don't let anyone tell you that you're weird for choosing one thing over another.

Don't let anyone tell you that your hobbies/interests are a huge waste of time.

Don't let anyone tell you that you're unworthy of B I G things.

Don't let anyone tell you that you're never gonna make it.

Don't ever let anyone diminish your light, ever.

Your looks, happiness and self-worth will never match up to anybody else's because they are all by nature, subjective qualities. What makes you happy might not be the very same thing that makes them happy. What you think is beautiful might be hideous to someone else. But who are they to tell you what makes you happy and what doesn't? Are you going to be you or are you going to let them tell you who you are?

xoxo,

Wendy
